| Several of these
images were taken by My Astro Shop using the SWED80 f7.5 80mm refractor with integrating
video. Two were taken by David Rigley using a wider format digital camera. All pictures
are copyright and must not be used without express permission of the author. They are
provided as an example only of what this product is capable of and to show our commitment
to using and testing the products we recommend. Visually, this short focal length (600mm) refractor performs VERY well.
Straight out of the box, in and out of focus star testing revealed a perfectly collimated
instrument. Testing with various eyepieces, the Vixen LV25mm is a great work horse ocular
for beautiful deep sky views and the LV4mm (yielding 150x magnification) for studying the
planets. You may prefer to purchase additional eyepieces down the track, however these two
will give you the best of both worlds when starting out yielding the best views this great
little ED refractor can deliver.
All images below are basic in nature so no
great efforts were undertaken process them. They present the simplest achievable results
you can obtain with a 1/2-inch CCD chip imaging device or digital SLR in the case of David
Rigley's results. Stars appear flat and sharp right to the edge of the images.
